I do not know if I am on the correct forum section or not, but I couldn't find an area dedicated to the Role Playing Shooter Game, Mass Effect. So please do forgive me if I am in the wrong area, but I do seriously need help. Thanks.

I have just finally brought mass Effect 2 PC game from Steam. I am currently playing Mass Effect 1. So you know that this questions is referred to Mass Effect 1 PC Game version.

I have used several of the cheats in the game which can be found, for the complete list of the cheats on the following website address.

(sorry I had to place that web address ith spaces in each part but the forum wouldn't let me put it in when it is vital for me to get the help I need, as if anyone is great with cheats they will need to know where i got the codes from to see them and hopefully know how to edit them. Thanks)

Now my problem is that I used the cheat that gives you everything, but the armour, but I somehow got all the armor as well, but not with the codes they listed, I must have mixed a code and it worked, but now I have over 4000 pieces of equipment on me now and I do not know how to delete them all without spending hours of time to delete them all one by one.

I find it funny how they add codes that add items but not give a code on how to delete items. I currently have the correct codes for the exact items I require for every single one of my team members, so if I had a save that I own that I could go back to, so I could just enter those codes, I would.

The thing is that the original save that I had for before I added any cheats, I was keeping free, but I accidently saved over it, so now I cannot go back, which I wouldn't like anyway as it is half way back, through the entire game. lol

Now I need help to be able to find a cheat code that will allow me to delete all items that I currently contain, basically all equipment, so that I can just add the items that I wish, or if it is possible to find a way of being able to delete a large amount of equipment that is in my inventory that wouldn't delete what me and my team members are currently wearing.

I was hoping that if someone knew anyway around this to help me to be able to delete all the extra crap I have.

I must let you know that my game is one of those Steam Downloaded games, I actually thought I was paying for a CD game when I brought it, but was wrong, but I am fine with what I got anyway. I do know how to edit game files, if I am given instructions on what to do. I have completely backed up all my game files to a secure folder, so that if anything goes wrong with the coding I can just add the original files back.

Please I hope there is someone who may be able to explain to me how to completely delete all of my inventory. I have tried to delete items 1 by 1, but it took me over an hour just to get rid of 250 items. So Please help me if you are able to.

I'm not usually really big on emoticons, but if I had one that would laugh at you like Ralphie from the Simpsons, I'd sure use it! Not often do we see requests to "un-cheat!"

Anyway, the fact of the matter is that it would probably take someone skilled at hacking much longer to figure out how hack the items away than it would take them to sell them or whatever. Unless you're looking at this as a learning opportunity, save yourself the frustration and just dump the items or restart your game.

In most cases like this, you'll probably wanna' try to modify the inventory via saved game files rather than in memory. In memory, the inventory is often stored in complex data structures. On disk, it's usually much simpler. Are the saved game files all the same size? If so, then it will probably be trivial. If not, open one up and see if you can identify any headers or other distinguishing features to determine whether or not the file is compressed and/or encrypted and with what format. If nothing else, try opening a few with winzip/winrar/or some file-repair software.

If you can't get anywhere w/ the saved games, then try adding and removing an item repeatedly to/from your inventory and searching for changes. If you can track down item X in your inventory in this way, you can try to dissect the data structures to figure out how they're stored. A few values, like item weight or cost or whatever should probably jump out at you. Once you can identify a single item, try searching for others and looking for patterns. If the inventory items are coded as instances of the same base class, you might luck out and be able to use the fat pointer that points to the virtual base as a constant and search for instances that are near to each other in memory to decipher the data structure that manages inventory. Dunno.

It's a big job, and I'm sorry if I sound discouraging. If you get started and run into a hurdle, report back and we'll try to help where possible.

Problem is, I don't have an original save, plus, I absolutely do not trust hacking programs, they screw your computer up, do more worse than good. I might have to create a new profile and look at their default list and see of any changes that refer to weapons etc, but if I am looking at saves, how do i locate the saves files, i use steam, and usually I see a save folder, but there is no save folder. Please help me if your able. Thanks.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I did do a backup of the files that require you to enter the cheat console line into the file to use the cheats and they do not have any new changes, but the heck if i know which is which, and what is what in each file. Sorry, I know, not much of a help, but I am able to try and email the files to someone if they know what they are doing???
