Can parents buy alcohol for their children to drink? So lets say I was underage and wanted to drink beer. Is it legal for my parents to go buy me the beer?
I live in Canada btw

In USA no, it is illegal no matter what to drink under-age.
It is also illegal to provide alcohol to a minor.
As for Canada, no idea. Drinking age there is 18 though isn't it?

In Australia it is legal to drink underage, provided it is drunk in your own home with parental permission.

Yeah, really. I think there is still a minimal age though I'm not positive about that. Private property and with a parent.
It really does vary state to state though.

| Code: | In New South Wales there is no law against minors possessing or drinking alcohol on private premises, but there are laws against supplying or selling alcohol to a minor, as well as against minors "carrying away" alcohol from a licensed club.[3][4]
Minors may be on licensed premises accompanied by a parent or guardian (but not purchase alcohol) and parents can not provide alcohol with a meal on licensed premises.
It is also illegal to provide minors with alcohol, and one can be fined by it if caught in the act. It is illegal to buy alcohol if already drunk and to supply alcohol to such a person.[5] |

In Canada, its not legal whatsoever.
If you were to get caught, you would probobly serve time in jail if you provided. Taken away for a while if given any.

Gotta love the way that works. I can drink alcohol, but anyone who gives it to me is doing the crime. God I love Australia.

Not quite. It's perfectly legal for someone underage to drink with their parent's supervision on private property.

canada has the same law provided that you are 14 or 16, i forgot which one. ]
anyways, it's only illegal if you get caught. even if canada did not have the law which permits you drink underage at your own house with your parents watching you, you won't get caught.
