my bad. the original alienswarm was the one made with the UnrealEngine 2

the new one is on source engine

It's not a source mod, it's a full game. Even that it runs og source and you need an source game to get it.

Source mod implies that it is only free if you already own a game that uses the engine. As the game is completely free, it's not a mod but standalone.
