What is the best Quad-Core and the best GPU?

best quad core as of now is for AMD, the phenom II X4 955
as for Intel, i-series, but Core2QuadQ650 is an exception

best gpu to date:

List is outdated. The 460 isn't on it, and thats the best mid ranged gfx card currently.

phenom II X4 955? I'll take an intel i7 980X thanks.
6 cores, 12 threads, 3.6MHz turbo. Probably can overclock to around 4.8

Intel Core i7 9XX are by far the best processors available. I bought the Intel Core i7 920 one year ago, and I have no complaints whatsoever.

We are talking about quad cores here people, not Hex cores.

Nah, the very late models (980Xtreme edition) is a hexcore, but all the rest is quad.

Are you stupid? 295 is a dual GPU. It was the best one on the market until the 5970 came out.

Alright, don't give an opinion until you've actually built a tower yourself.

Michael, you say you're not doing the research, but here's a heads up for future reference:

• First off, post this in Computer Talk.
• Second, if you're going to be doing video editing or other multi-threaded functions frequently, go for the quad core. When it comes to gaming, you want a high frequency dual core with L3 cache.
• As far as RAM, grab some 1066 mhz DDR3. You're not going to find DDR3 in sticks of less than 1 GB, so even with 2 sticks totaling 2 GB you'll be fine as far as gaming. (I myself have 2x2 GB sticks of 1600 mhz DDR3 OCZ Gold, and the 4GB only helps me out when running multiple applications.) If you want more, go for it. (My board supports up to 16GB. My wallet does not.)
• I recommend leaving your options open when it comes to a GPU. Always go for the card that can be linked in either SLI or Crossfire down the road. My personal preference is Nvidia as I believe they produce the best standards and have the highest customer comfort in mind. The 9800 GT is one of the BEST cards out there to start you off. It is reasonably priced, around $100 usually, and is one of the highest-selling cards out there. A lot of people choose this card for their dual SLI builds, and I would go EVGA. For the little extra money, they offer great software, support, and quality control.
• Remember, everything starts at the motherboard. If you're going to get an AMD chip because you want to save a little I am a fucktard, please kill me if I do write this correctlyH, check to see what socket it is. The memory controller is built-in on AMD chips, so only the latest sockets can use DDR3 memory. Thus, motherboards that fit AMD chips can only use DDR2 or DDR3. As well, the motherboard must have SLI/Crossfire support if you're going dual GPU - I recommend looking for a board with two PCIe 2.0 slots that will BOTH function at x16 together.

Hope this helps, brochacho.

first, it has to fit waffles.
now, fray all the wires with scissors and pile them up heaped at the bottom
kick out some casing
turn on computer, fire will start on wires
hang waffles in casing skeleton

AWESOME
