Hybrid is suck.
Have you read the ult? It takes the higher value instead of using both. I use an AP build and I go:

Ruby Crystal (starter)
Haunting Guise (from the ruby crystal)
Sorcerer's Shoes
Mejai's Soul Stealer
Rylai's Crystal Staff
Hextech revolver
Zhonya's Ring
Will of the Ancients (from the revolver)

you can sell the Haunting Guise later on if you get fed for a better AP item like Abyssal Scepter or Void Staff.
