In my opinion, rocket jumping is just stupid. You don't even go very high, especially not compared to the damage you take from it.
Demoman stickybombs work a lot better, but even that's not worth it IMO.
Hello idiot. You're so stupid if you think you don't go high when you rocket jump. It's all controlled by what you do. If you crouch and hold it, you go high. If you ducktap you go like, way higher and if you don't crouch at all then you don't go high, because you're just an idiot and can't understand things.
Rocket jumping is incredibly important. It gets you places much faster than the stupid and slow alternative and is just generally something that any soldier should be able to do.
If you want to see why rocket jumping is so useful, download this demo I made, put the demo file in your 'tf' folder and in the console ingame type 'playdemo sollygran' without the apostrophes. It's basically a very shit rollout. I should have gone faster through the second point bit and I failed a jump due to being in windowed mode and going out of the screen at one point, but I just said 'fail' in chat to show that, then did it perfectly afterwards.
