The new ares dual 5870 should be better than a 5970. A dual 4870 beats a 4890 if I'm correct.

I'd say dual, though don't take my opinion as strongly as others, I'm more of an Nvidia guy.

I dunno, they're both eyefinity, the 5970 is 2gb and the 5870's are 1gb each, what's the point in having two anyway?
Is it like having a two core processor so it can multitask?

Are you for real or just pc dumb? evefinity isn't shit. Its a dual monitor gimmick. The good 5970 has 4gb ram, the regular has 2gb, the dual 5870 should have 2gb, 1gb for each GPU.

Yes that's what I said, they have 1gb each, so it evens out, I just want to know if the benefit of having two older cards outranks having one newer one.

.............Its not 2 cards? Do you mean 2 5870 in crossfirex, or this http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/gpu_displays/asus_ares_hands_on_world_first/1

This is literally a 5870x2 single card dual gpu.

One card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227254

Two cards:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229191

Doesn't say anything about crossfirex, so I have no idea.

dual would be more costly and generate more heat/power consumption
ffs, you don't need dual gpu unless you're running 6 monitors
