... because I kind of feel like a change, and LoL is looking more and more interesting anyway.
Any suggestions/tips for someone transferring over? Oh, and if I usually stuck to casters in DotA, who are some heroes that sorta fit that role as well in LoL?

LoL is really balanced, and mages actually influence the game, unlike in dota.
And seeing new heroes feels sooooooo nice. You'll fit right in.

| Its really not worth it, in my opinion dota is far more competitive if you think its boring go and join a clan do some weekly clan wars. Loads of competitiveness in dota OR learn to play meepo/chen hahas

Oh, and are heroes/items/etc significantly different from DotA? Just by looking at say, the HoN website, most things are basically a carbon copy. I haven't seen as many similarities in LoL.

That is actually part of the problem for me. I play on Bnet (because Garena is even more competitive >_>. And I hear too many people nerdraging all the time. If this game is less competitive, hell, I'm counting that as a plus.
Oh, and meepo is hard D:

I'd say start with Ryze. He's pretty much your basic mage there. He's actually rather balanced now (after about 4 nerfs in a row) and is still fun.

Maybe only shadow shaman and dazzle do. Fuck invoker. |
Invoker is epic. I love playing him. He's really fun if you remember his combinations (which took me what, a game? two maybe to remember them all?) Just get his scepter, some mana regen, maybe bloodstone and you're good to go. He plays a ton of roles at once, and can make all the difference in team fights. I just love the intensity of his play style.
Mages were great in DotA, you probably just sucked at them.

I pretty much play around with all his spells. I found forged spirit + cold snap to work very well. You can also use ghost walk if you have radiance on, which really helps in team battles (extremely long ghostwalk, 40dps to enemies + a nice large AoE slow? yes pz) He has a ton of playstyles and is very flexible, one of my very favorite casters in DotA.
