Wow. Thats a nice drop for the 950. I just wish Intel would be a bit more budget friendly before they start selling cpu's at the price of used cars.

i3 560 looks like it will deliver a pretty good bang to the buck.

Yea but couldn't you get a quad AMD core cheaper or for a bit more that will bench it 5 times over? Dual cores should be dirt cheap at this stage. Quads are extremely main stream.

Quad cores are definitely the better thing to get, I agree, but Microsoft should really work on teaching their operating systems how to really spread all of the work over 4 cores. Even Windows 7 doesn't really take full advantage of quad core chips.

It takes advantage of at least 3 cores, and this satisfies me. But yea, unless people are a die hard Intel fan, AMD is still more bang for buck.

Why the hell B&M deals at FRY's and Microcenter still end up cheaper?
Oh well, 775 for life.

Do you see windows 7 spreading all threads equally over every single core? That would be optimal parallel processing. At idle, I have over 400 threads, but 1 of my 4 cores is at 4%? 4 of my 4 cores should be at 1%, I don't give a shit if my computer uses 10 more watts.

that's hardly parallel processing, it's all just unrelated threads. you're using no meaningful amount of cpu time.

the os knows better than you do in how to manage itself.

Damn, no drops on the Core i5 750. Dropping it down to $175 would be pretty much an instant buy for me. Just waiting for Intel to hit my sweet spot.

Ah well, NCIX is opening a new store near my place, so hopefully they got this on sale for their grand opening or something.

Intel, sweet spot? It's never going to happen, so don't hold your breath. If you notice, they dropped their prices in their cpus that are relatively unpopular, not their cpus that are enormously fucking successful.

This is true. And no matter what, the prices still won't match up. Sorry to be a fanboy, but untill intel has a semi decent QUAD for 100 bucks, They are still over priced.

their 4 core stuff rubs against amd's 6 core nuts as is, the price point they are at is fine, there isn't much incentive to drop.

microcenter still carries i7's for sub 200.
