My sisters computer is missing hal.dll, and I can't find a way to boot from CD?
It keeps booting, going to the WINXP screen, then repeating. I have a Windows XP CD inside of it and CD is set to boot from first but it doesn't?
Much +rep in exchange for help.

| keep hitting the button that allows you to select boot order. maybe f2, f8, f10, f12, etc. tends to be one of those. i've found in the past sometimes i had to do that and then it'd boot from the cd when it wouldn't otherwise. are you trying to reformat ?

I hit F12 go to the boot sequence and shit. but it's set to boot from CD first, but when I try that it says;
"SELF MONITORING SYSTEM PARAMETER EXCEEDED BLA BLA RECOMMEND BACK UP DATA REGULARLY
Strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for steup utility"
F1 does nothing except repeat the text, and F2 brings me to the boot menu (same as f12) :/

| Haven't seen that error before. Google it then check there's nothing wrong with your cd and nothing wrong with your cd drive
