Sorry bro, i keep forgetting HDD as i never ran out of those fuckers.
But yeah, you can probably spend up $100 for a WD black or samsung f3.
Coulda sworn it can go cheaper with another Canada site, but i'm not Canadian.

Not only that, US site says "Auto Nofity" while CA site still has it.
I wonder if newegg is reserving those for Canadians instead?
Anyway it wont help unless OP gets a board with SATA 6Gb/s ports

The only difference between the 6gb/s version of the 640 gb Cav black and the 3gb/s version is the cache, which doesn't even make a huge difference. The difference between sata II and III is theoretical, sata II capping at 300 mb/s transfer and sata III capping at 600 mb/s. You would never reach over 300 mb/s doing anything with a 7200 rpm drive, so it's pointless to raise the limit even more.

| I have a 32mb cache and its pretty decent speeds for data transfers between partitions and such. I have a 500gb wdc black. So can we get a zip code yet? It be easier to calculate it instead of you telling us how much its over after why make the build up.

Since when does any type of connection ever reached its rated specs. Heck, even IDE rated to go at 100MB/s never reach up to that as well.
We might as well still use IDE instead...

Because of a few reasons. Amongst the most simple ones, IDE cables, with their multiple lanes are inefficient and ridiculously large and airflow blocking, and that caviar blacks actually do burst well over 100 mb/s.
