I bought a new computer from a friend who owns a computer store and I got the AMD Phenom II X6 cpu with the Asus M4A78LT-M LE mobo,
when I got the computer he said I would need to hit the F1 key everytime it booted until asus updated their bios because the cpu was not supported yet, So i checked on asus cpu support list and it shows the same cpu but a 95 w one instead of my 125w one in the support list.. question is will running a 125W cpu on a 95W mobo( The manual says it supports all cpus up to 95W) have any bad effects on anything? also is it possible that asus could update the bios to support my cpu?

thanks in advance Smile

To be honest I'm not the biggest expert in power usage, but it sounds like to me that the mobo can't supply more than 95W to the CPU, meaning the CPU won't be able to function properly (if at all).

Well the computer boots it just requires me to press F1 every time, it also seems stable... I mean I was on it for a good 4 days straight playing battlefield, cod and a lot of other games (had a friend over for the long weekend) No problems there but I am worried running it for to long could damage the motherboard or the CPU.

Again I'm not sure, it might, but I'm pretty sure it'll at least make it not perform as well as it could.

be weary, past stability problems, you probably run the risk of damaging the mobo. you're clearly out of specs, overclocking would probably make matters worse.

I believe he said underclock and OP, I think 30watts will make a difference.

Good thing i even noticed it... I am going to see if I can return this mobo and get one that actually supports my CPU. If anyone else would like to share their advice I would appreciate it Smile
