Seriously, the very name "The Pirate Bay" shows that they knew what they were making available to the public.
It'd be like me opening a mall and having drug merchants selling illegal drugs and calling it "Illegal drugs sold here". I'm sure playing stupid won't work very well. People need to be held accountable for their actions, both the file hosts and the people who make the search engines used to track them.

That analogy is completely false, and your backing argument is complete shit. It would be more analogous to a store that sold the means to get to/use the drugs.
That is completely legal; don't believe me?

That store is in the biggest mall in North America (prior to 2004, the world) and hasn't been shutdown for all the years it's been there. I would know, since I used to live an hour from Edmonton.

Must be nice living in a world of lies. The VAST MAJORITY of torrents are used to share pirated software/media. It's the VAST MAJORITY that is going to ruin it for the whole.
Lets look at it like you do... lets say "the pirate bay" was "google" and "pirated software" was "kiddie porn". When 95% of the search results are kiddie porn, it is googles responsibility to fix their search engine.

The company name doesn't matter.
- Did TPB come before the term pirating?

Using my previous analogy, what are guns usually used for? Sure, they could go hunting with a rifle, but there is no practical use for a civilian to have a handgun. Then why are they sold? Sure, you can do something illegal if you wanted with the gun, but the shop nor the maker is responsible for what you do.
It's the same with the store in my last post. Almost every single item in that store can be used to do something illegal, so why are they allowed to operate?
