My school has a bunch of licenses for it for the architecture and 3d drafting programs, so I just always assumed it was for 2D/3D drafting.

yea, but also manufacturing, construction, designing. Forgot what the main professions are but engineers and architectures are some of them. Currently I've been offered to work for an architect(I have 3 years of experience basically but this was all on my own, regardless I still advanced way faster than what most courses have to offer and more than some architects I know). I haven't found a forum thats active and is about CAD, or someone that's used it often enough to ask some questions that could make shit easier, so for some reason I ended up asking here(lal)

Also on my CAD class we played Halo CE and CSS(shit games imo, shit computers)
