Religion in public schools covers World Religions.
Assuming you don't have a dickwad for a teacher, the student actually learns how religions branched off and how/why certain cultures think/act the way that they do.
it's a great course :0
Now as for religious private schools that teach religion.... that's a difference case.

There was a bill passed in Texas that requires all public schools to provide a class on "religion", which turns out to only ever mean "Christian Bible study." In my school, "Biblical literature" is somehow equivalent to English 4, does not require English 3, and can replace both of them. This is the kind of thing I don't like about religion.

But yes, i was a poorfag and i still see myself as one. I went to the worst school in miami and then when my grandparents passed away, they left me their house and money. I moved into one of the best sections of the city, and instead of paying for a private school, i chose to go to a public high school.
when my kid is born, i wouldn't dream of sending him/her to a private school.

Well, never seen one get stabbed down here in south florida.
But you know what? I've seen a lot of drug dealers. You know what else? The rich kids in private schools have more access to drugs. You know what else? The overall happiness level is higher in normal high schools than in private schools. But lets be fair here... drugs and stabbings can happen in both private and public schools. =/
public schools > private schools.
enjoy paying thousands of dollars for thinking you have safety and a better education.

You guys are just saying that what the guy is doing is cool because you guys dislike the church. Trust me, I dislike it as much as you all do, but I dislike atheists just as much. I dislike anybody that takes ANY stand in religion whatsoever. Doesn't matter which direction. All religious views boil down to ignorance and stubbornness, even for atheists. I use a different term for myself, I believe I heard Jake use it, I'm an apatheist.
