I dunno about HGSS, but in Blue you can learn Fissure, it's a highly inaccurate one-hit-KO.
If you spend all your accuracy upgrades on Blastoise(s), by the time it(they) learn the move, it's pretty much a guaranteed kill.
Considering it has 5 sp, you can more or less wipe out an entire party without letting the other trainer attack.
