When I do full screen stuff, it goes really screwy. It happens whenever I have a window open, really. Watching a movie would be impossible.

I can't believe nobody suggested this before:
You have spy/adware that pops up in an 'invisible' window. This way you don't notice it and they still get money off it. I suggest downloading the latest AVG Internet Security Trial, update it to the latest version and then doing a through virus scan (Meaning you scan EVERY file). That should fix it.

There's nothing wrong with AVG apart from being a resource hog and having poor detection (Especially when it comes to rootkits and rogues).
Malwarebytes is one of the best programs for removal (using a rescue cd is always better though).

Reformatting is the best method of everything.
I keep all my files on an external hd, and reformat once a month.
