Quick demo of what he's trying to say:
1) You open up your merchant window in your game.
2) Your game client asks the server how much money you have and displays it.
3) You select your item and click purchase. A purchase request is sent to the server.
4) The server compares the price of the selected item to how much money you have. If you have enough, the server gives you the item and reduces the amount of money you have.
5) Your game client updates the amount of money shown on your screen.
So, as you can see, modifying the value in your client just changes the value on your screen, not the real value. It's like getting a bank statement and crossing out your real balance and writing a new one in. Doing that doesn't change the amount of money in your bank account. _________________
