|
|
I just recently bought a new LCD monitor for my old P4 Computer and the native resolution is 1920 x 1080 but when I try to put that resolution in, the desktops extends off the monitor and I can move it around with my mouse...
it will only go up to 1600x1200 before doing that, whys it doing this and how can I fix it (if possible). Thanks in advance!

| Your graphics card can't handle it or you need to use hdmi cable.

see what your drivers have to report. they should pull directly from the monitor EDID.
update them if you haven't.

It's impossible for your monitor to have a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 when you say you can only get up to 1600 x 1200 because those are 2 completely different aspect ratios. One is 16:9 and the other is 4:3
If the resolution is going off the screen than your monitor is 4:3 and you can't use a wide screen resolution.
4:3
800 x 600
1600 x 1200
2400 x 2000
16:9
852 x 480
1280 x 720
1365 x 768
1600 x 900
1920 x 1080

XP might have problems with even this, though it would more likely indicate a problem with drivers...
