hello. ive used cheat engine with my old computer. it had windows xp sp3 if it matters. i just installed cheat engine 5.6 on my new comp with windows 7 64 home. when i try to use it not a single value shows up. it wouldnt even let me hack the tutorial. however just for tests i hacked cheat engine itself and values showed up so i have no idea. any help would be great. thank you

what kind of harddisk do you have ?
Does it give a count number above the address list that isn't 0 ?

And are you running it as an admin and am not running an anti-virus/firewall that blocks it ?

well im running a western digital black 1tb harddrive. there is a 0 above the list(or lack there of) and as far as i know i am the admin.

If it was the diskread error the count should have said a value higher than 0 and a blank list

At what step of the tutorial did this happen? And are you sure you typed in the proper value ?

it happened in all steps of the tutorial. whenever it told me to search for something i did and it didnt come up with anything

so scanning for the exact value didn't return any results (so you didn't stupidly multiply the values by 8 ), and the count stayed 0?
Go to settings->scan settings and make sure MEM_PRIVATE and MEM_IMAGE are ticked

and make sure the value type is set properly, and that the scanrange is set to 00000000 to 7fffffff

It looks like the result files didn't get written.

How much diskspace is left on the disk ce is installed on?

Also, try reinstalling ce to another folder like c:\cheatengine, or d:\cheatengine if you have another disk

854 gb is still free. ill try installing it to my external harddrive

hmm, might be something blocking ce from writing the results on the c: disk. (mainly program files)

Anti virus, special disk protection software, or just a disk error
Or you didn't run as admin after all, but then ce shouldn't even launch on vista/win7
