|
|
My 10 year old TV finally died and I was looking into Tv tuners, I have no clue what to look for though so I would appreciate some help.
I have basic cable (Rogers) and all i want to be able to do is watch tv\record if possible and play my wii\xbox360 and ps2 on it(?). The card needs to be able to run on my P4 and my newer i7 computer.. so I dont think i could use those smaller PCI cards (not sure tho). Newegg.ca and tigerdirect are the only sites I can buy from also Canada only!
Thanks in advanced

To play and record xbox/wii etc on your PC, you will require a Capture Card which is different to a TV Tuner.

You can get a regular TV tuner cheap, but to play consoles, you need some kind of AV input.

That is only to watch, not to record.
I did a little test with my TV Tuner, and i recorded my Xbox 360 gameplay using the TV Tuner. You must be aware of what video format your console uses (E.g Pal-60, NTSC etc). It didn't turn out good quality though.

make sure you get a card without hardware encoding or you WILL get input lag.

Each card is different.
I was wrong.
TV Tuners usually do have capture support but your better off getting a dedicated capture card to record Xbox etc.

Get the Winfast DTV1800. It allows to watch TV with an aerial, and has input for your Xbox. I play my N64 on it =]
