| was out for 10 hours. Came home to find my desktop wont turn on and my buddies laptop charge doesnt work neither. Just tested the psu on my dads desktop and it lights up the mobos power light before I even put in the rest of the plugs. How can I tell if my mobo is shorted? |

| nothing is working on the mobo. If it does work it says ddr2 ram ungaged and then it doesnt start the search for the HDDs. This is bullshit. The other mobo I hve for my dads build wont even turn on. |

WHICH THE FUCK IS IT? | I said I tried another mobo. My mobo is working now, but it wont get passed the HDD check. My HDD is the problem it seems. when its unplugged its fine but then gets to disk boot failure due to no hdd. with it in, it cannot pass the check. It works though so IDK. I hear it spinning. |

In this thread all I see is a bunch of confusion and chaos.
Hope you get your problem fix as getting a better mobo isn't the only solution.
What if you bought yourself a $300 mobo and got the same thing, you're going out and get yourself a "better mobo"?
-For the SATA drive not passing POST, try a different SATA and Power cable as well as try a different SATA port.
-You may as well try resetting your CMOS and updating the BIOS.
-What happened to your father's PC is it even working after you tried your PSU?
-How's your buddy's charger, is it working now?
-Have your try changing a different power strip, different power cord (for your PC), or even taking your rig into another location in your house to verify whether it's the PC itself or some fault with your electrical socket. _________________

I put the video and the psu into an old desktop. Ran without a hitch. The hdd booted up windows on another pc just fine. DVD drive wouldnt cause such an issue. What else could cause it? It freezes when it posts the ram saying "DDR2 800 Ungaged mode". I got it to boot the HDD just now and it bsod'd.
What else could it be? |

The HDD you have your OS installed can only be booted from the hardware specs it was originally installed on. Taking the HDD into another mobo and booting up the OS will result in a BSOD.
And according to the web "DDR2(clock speed) ungaged mode" indicates your ram isn't operating at it's specify frequency.
Just use one stick of ram, go into the bios and make sure the ram setting are correct. Then save and exit changes, power off system. plug in your HDD and see if that works.
If yes, power off again and install other remaining ram and power on again and see what happens. _________________
