The program you're running which is VMware workstation 7 requires you to have VT if you want to run a 64bit guest OS. If you use another program then you probably won't need to have VT for operating a 64bit guest OS.

but on workstation 6.5 it worked withhout vt (on xp)? sry if I'm asking dumb questions 
edit: BTW thanks for the good help nearly never seen a forum where I got an answer within 24 hours

| I really don't know why it would be any different between operating systems (especially two versions of Windows). See if it works with VirtualBox.

Can you fit a cylinder block into a square hole? No
Does a apple taste like an orange? No
Is the number 6 the same as number 7? No
You cannot compare the version you're running before to the one your having right now since these two softwares are totally different products.
version 6.5 lets you run a 64bit guest OS with or without VT
version 7 only lets you run a 64bit guest OS if you have VT
It's surprising for a person who runs 64bit OSes having this much difficulties understanding something this simple.

Pretty sure Workstation only needs VT-x in order to run a 64-bit OS in a 32-bit environment. Check installed version of Windows 7.
kls, I'm pretty certain you can run a 64-bit guest on a 64-bit host, regardless of virtualization support or version of Workstation. (And it doesn't take much in the way of technical prowess to use a 64-bit OS, especially from Windows.)

@kls I was using workstation 6.5 and 7 on win 7 and it didn't work for both of tthem, thats why I was confused
