I want to bootup my Ubuntu 8.10 which is installed on my usb while im on windows 7
I got some messed up error with virtual pc box
can anyone recommend a virtual machine easy and simple that can do that
my Ubuntu is INSTALLED on my USB

The only way I can think of running 2 OS's at a time is by Virtual Machine.
Try using VirtualBox. Which did you use? Virtual Box or Virtual PC?

Yea i mean virtual machine, my bad
I am pretty sure it was Virtual Box
and it wouldn't boot up my usb

Yes, assuming your PC has the ability to boot from USB (or can VMWare boot from USB without the host being able to?)

| VirtualBox allows for mounting real partitions, as does -- I believe -- VMWare (Workstation?). |

but no luck

Wouldn't you just plug the USB in before turning on the computer? I thought the idea was that it auto detects more than one OS available on separate drives and gives you an option. That could just be partitions/internal HDD's though.

I got it working with VMware it boots up and everything but when i login in ubuntu it logs me back out every time
im using a usb-test startup.vmx file, i got it from a youtube video and it seems like the only way to boot from usb
