Ok this is a bit odd
I upgraded to windows 7 and the media player seems to have scanned my WHOLE computer for music type files
so now i have like
500 window type music files such as chimes, windows ballon sounds ,etc
how do i make it so they wont show up again as media player scans my pc for music

I think, there is a setting in the options menu to disable auto scan of media files.

Play around with your WMP library settings. WMP12 by default only checks for music in your libraries.

I don't have Win7 and WMP12, but WMP 11 should have the same settings to WMP12.
Fire up WMP, and click on the Library Tab.
Under the library TAB, click on the arrow to bring the drop down menu and click on More options.
Click Monitor Folders
In here you can customize the folders you want WMP to monitor and add to media files to the library if there are any changes.
