For my computing needs, I'd think either a windows pc, mac, or linux system would work fine. The only thing that I actually NEED windows for is playing games. Firefox and open office both have their own respective linux and mac versions.

I'm trying to talk my dad into getting an imac for his next computer so he can stop calling me asking me questions about why shit doesn't work. Supposedly Macs are harder for idiots to screw up, but even if that isn't true and he does fuck it up, when he calls me I'll just tell him I don't know wtf to do to fix it since it's a mac

Like I said, if you don't need a ton of super fast processing power, PCs are OK.

I use MACs for graphics stuff, and PCs for about everything else.
