Fuck that, buy an alienware.

OT: Windows 7 isnt all that superior in gaming, But does show a huge different in gaming depending on what type of RAM you have.

Win7 can also run as many games as Vista right now...
moar actually since u can virtual xp which lets u play old stoff liek StarCraft. However does anyone know if w7 64bit will work with SC? maybe under virtual?
I wouldn't recommend playing any game in XP mode unless you have an ultragood comp.

And if it works in 32-bit, it'll work in 64-bit. x64 can run x32, just uses A LOT of memory.

@Trandescent: What the fuck are you talking about? Honestly, are you stupid?
1. Alienwares are horribly overpriced crap. Even if you would buy a computer (which is just silly when you can build one) the last brand you should buy would be an Alienware.
2. Depending on what RAM...did you just make that up?

Windows 7 certainly is superior in gaming. And if you have such a low amount of RAM, that you can't play most games, then you need to go to NewEgg and buy more... 2 Gigs should be fine, however, even Sims 3 only requires 1 to 1.5 Gigs.

The TYPE of Ram honestly doesn't effect performance noticeably, assuming you mean "brand". Some brands build the chips to last longer and use less resources, but that honestly has little to do with gaming performance...

@elpacco, if I had the money to buy an AlienWare, overpriced or not, I'd do it right away.

No.

16 bit programs will no longer run on a 64 bit OS.

:\

I mean if it is a 32-bit program, 64-bit Win7 can emulate it so that it will still work.

16-bit programs are beyond outdated.

Yeah I know, but AvgAzn was wondering whether or not his old games would work on a 64bit OS.

Thought I don't think SC is 16bit, so it should work.

Unless he plays some really old ass shit, in which case, stick to 32 bit.

what
My 64-bit OS can emulate 32-bit programs. So they can work, but they use a lot of memory (because they have to be emulated).

For example:

32 bit code isn't emulated

Why do they use so much memory then?

because that is pretty typical memory usage and you merely think it is bad

That's a web browser. Web browsers use a lot of memory.
Plus, 32-bit programs aren't "emulated" on a 64-bit operating system.

It definitely doesn't use up to 200MB with one tab open. On my old comp, it only used about 20MB.
