| I just watched a video on it and it seems pretty scary. It talks about terrifying hallucinations people experience. So my questions are, how does it happen, is it common, and can you stop it? |

I started experiencing sleep paralysis when I was around 8ish. It happens to me a few times a year. I've only hallucinated once while being paralyzed. But basically you wake up and have no control of your body, and it's more terrifying than you can imagine. It's usually about 2-3 minutes before I can move my head around, and then the rest of my body follows a few seconds later.
The only time I can recall hallucinating from it was about a year and a half ago. I fell asleep watching tv, and there was a lamp in the room that was still on. I woke up and saw this reddish-orange figure floating away above me and then disappeared, and there was this commercial on tv that was talking to me specifically, which then faded seamlessly back into whatever was on. It seemed 100% real but obviously it only happened in my head.
My family has a history of sleep disorders and I don't know what triggers mine. I guess that's all I can tell you. |

Usually signs of a disease or mental disorder. At least simple substance malnutrition. _________________

So if I'm perfectly healthy I don't have to worry? |

Sleep paralysis can cause actual hallucinations while you're awake. _________________

To be honest, it looks cool to hallucinate once. It would get scary if it happened more and more though. _________________

It's not a big deal, a lot of people experience them, only reason you would experience anything bad is if you didn't know what was going on and started thinking aliens are real and then start seeing them.
Just keep your cool, wiggle your toes and fingers and slowly start to come out of it. |

Well now that you put it that way it seems kind of fun. |

Just check if you have other weird side effects or causes... Like did you hit your head or are your eyes yellow? _________________

You know what I remember having sleep paralysis before. I fell asleep on my stomach with my face resting on my forearm. Basically I was laying there thinking, ummmmm.... Why can't I move? So I was stuck in that position for like 10 minutes and I finally rolled over. |
