(Notice how I said 2nd Gen because the 3rdGen iPod Touch 8GB is the same thing as the iPod Touch 2G 8GB, just upgraded firmware.)
You will just be paying more money for the 3rd Gen one, it has the same processor just the design is different.
Also, if you`re looking for a cheap one, I suggest the iPod Video 4thGen Nano, it`s small, doesn`t break easy, really light, and easy to hold. I use that instead of my iPod Touch when I go to other places. |

Apple.com/wikipedia they post the ipod touch specs and you can clearly see the increase in graphics, memory and processor |
I thought the better processor was only in 16GB + 32GB

An MP3 player is a lot cheaper and is just as good as an iPod, if not better. With iPods, just like any Apple product, you end up paying a huge portion of the price on the brand name.

Yes, iPod Touch's get Internet just as well as iPhone's.
iPhone's are a little better though because you get it anywhere and you get your connection from a Sattelite from Apple Inc.

It depends on what you're gonna use it for. If you're looking for JUST A MUSIC PLAYER then get either a 16GB nano or a Classic
Classic - 160GB - MicroHD $249.00
Pros: Tons of fucking space.
Cons: Some people don't like moving parts in their player or don't like the size... I personally have a 30GB 5.5G iPod which is the exact same size and love mine. I also have an iPhone though... which I keep with me.
Nano - 16GB - SSD - 179.00
Pros: Small & no moving parts
Cons: 1/10th of the storage space of a classic
If you want an all in one system and don't for instance... carry around a DS or PSP with you, then get a Touch. I have an iPhone and fucking love it. (I'd rather have an android device to be clear... but the app market for android is pretty weak at the moment... and the only handset I'd want (hero) is absurdly OP)
So.... tl;dr: Get a 160GB Classic if you want just a music player ... if its too bulky get the nano... if you want to do more than just listen to music then get a touch.

Most of the time I get about 700Kbit down / 400 Kbit up ... that's a hell of a lot faster than anything else you can get out there. I'm not sure about T-Mobile's 3G service though. I hear its fast but... doesn't have the coverage that AT&T has. AT&T is a fucking horrible company though... don't bother getting an iPhone unless you're gonna jailbreak it. It does have the fastest speeds though ATM.

The touch has a screen you can actually watch movies on. Get it if you're interested in watching stuff.
The classic and the nano both have small screens... better used to see a bands name / song track / album cover / etc... The video quality is good but its smalllllllllllllllllllll.
And no the classic isn't bad for what you get. I use my classic as a car mp3 player and just leave it in the glove box plugged in to my stereo. (the stereo has an ipod controller built in)
tl;dr: Get the touch if you wanna watch video / play games / & listen to music...
Remember: You can put what you want on there and when you're done you just remove it and put new crap on. So don't worry about the space unless you're going on a 4 month trip with no computer or are a DJ or some shit.

Apple posted an ad saying that the consumers (people who are buying) should buy the 3rd gen iPod Touch 16GB+ not 8GB, because they said only the 16GB ones have a faster processor etc. People on youtube did reviews claiming that the 3G 8GB iPod Touch didn`t preform as well as the 16GB+`s did. so gg.
