Well, i've finally got it running in safe mode after attempts (had to remove the BIOS password from the setup/safemode) and going to attempt a system restore.

I had this happen once. Some virus was on my aunts pc. It also ate away her windows xp activation files. I had to recrack it and remove the virus. I dont remember what it was though. You should try using a USB mouse. I know that worked for the problem I had. It would show icons but the rest was just all black.
