This looks like a job for Gordon Freeman!

Stop reusing the same effect with lighting. Is boring and takes away from delicious contrast.

Yup. Makes the focal too hard to distinguish for me. x_x
Make the lighting smaller, but possibly stronger. Maybe even up the contrast a bit more as you see fit?
