I doubt that we would ever reach immortality but then even if we did
nobody would sell/give it.

Many of the bodies functions can be emulated well enough to keep you alive already. By the time we'd have fully working, awesome robot brains, this shit would be trivial at best.

Compounds & Elements would be breaking apart time to time, to stay immortal you would have to be creating & replacing constantly.
Also you would have to live a very safe life until solutions for causes are taken into action.

Transfer memories > immortality.
The human body wouldn't handle it though, but if someone is able to transfer all memories to someone else, you would technically live on in another body.

I'd like to share a short example of life from the viewpoint of the single immortal.
You were born. What a grand occasion. Your parents were very happy, and your family rejoiced at the little bundle of joy bestowed upon them. You were loved and cared for, and had a good infancy.
Time passes, you're growing up. Going through Grade school. You've failed a test, gotten friends, been to major events, and enjoyed Grade school. You have a crush on that cute but intelligent girl (or boy) that sits across from you. Life's good.
First day of High School. You're nervous, but excited. You have a good amount of friends going to the same school as you, so you're not fearing the first few classes. As the first couple of days go by, you're loving high school. It's fun, you've reconnected with friends that you fell out of touch with in the summer. That girl (or boy) you liked in Grade school is there too, and attractive as ever. You've begun hanging out more, and it's definitely something you enjoy.
College. Parties, studies, friends. You're still in touch with a lot of your friends, and talking a lot with that special person in your life. You're getting good grades, and you know what you want to do with your life. You graduate, and get a job at a respected institution in your field of interest.
You're very excited. You're getting married today, you have every right to be. (S)he's gorgeous, dressed up for the occasion. The ceremony goes beautifully, and the reception is nothing to ridicule, as well. Off to your honeymoon, you're going to enjoy every second of it.
You're panicking. You're at the hospital, having your first child. Tension is running high, and everybody seems so strained and filled with nervous excitement. Finally, it's over. You're staring at this child. Your child. Emotions are flying through you a mile a minute. You're having a hard time remembering a moment besides your wedding day when you were honestly this happy.
You get the phone call one night. It's hard to understand the speaker, but you gather that it's your mother. She's crying. Your father has just passed away. You don't realize you're crying until you feel the tears dropping on your arm. The funeral is next week, you mark the day and dread it. You're not sure if you can face the people, wearing black like any stereotypical funeral. Except it's not stereotypical, it's your father. Or is it?
It's been a few years. You get another call. Your mother has just passed away. It hits you just as hard as the day your father's consciousness left the Earth. Another funeral, one of the hardest moments in your life is returning, all too familiar.
One by one, your friends pass away. Until the day comes. Your spouse is taking a nap, and she isn't waking up. Frantically, you shake his/her arm and by the end of it you're screaming his/her name at the top of your lungs. You quickly phone the local emergency number, and they come and take him/her away in an ambulance. You phone your son/daughter, realizing that now you're the one making the call.
It's been well over 125 years. Your son/daughter is a senior citizen. You feel fit as ever. You don't even look that old. A complete stranger would place you in your 40's. You're wondering what's happening. Or rather, what's not happening.
It's been 200 years. You broke down in tears the day your child died. You considered taking your own life, but couldn't do it in the end. Leading a miserable, day-to-day life, you're questioning your own perception of reality.
You've made new friends. They died too. All of them. Your emotions have long since been mangled and destroyed. You don't know what to believe any more. It continues in an endless cycle. Forever. Life bores you in all aspects, long since grown uninteresting and bland.
Would you want immortality?

What if everyone was immortal? Then you wouldn't go through any of that. Still, life is horrible and to experience it once is enough for me. I've always thought like this and probably countless others.
When I was young, I always wanted to grow up. I thought it would be cool to drive, to work, to get your money, live on your own, all of that. Now, I'm grown up (not an adult, but you get what I mean) and I want to be young again. Not worrying about bills, or all these obstacles that you have to face.
I'm sure many people out there would like to live on forever. I'm sure if they ever reach it, they'll want their life to end someday.
I don't know if any of what I said makes sense, but yeah.

As taken straight from Twilight:
When you can live forever, what do you live for?
Imagine being in jail with a sentence that last till you die. Imagine that with immortality. | jail is capped at 150 years. 150 will be nothing if ur immortal besides its ur own damned fault for getting into jail anyways.

Once upon a time a younge boy named Moller asked his parents
"I wish we could all live for ever...", then his mother said "Oh, keep dreaming.".
Moller was walking down fairy lane and saw a fat clone of his mom in male form.
"Hey fag! Ask of meh a wish and it shall be fucking granted!!!" fagged the freak.
"Are you kidding... I wish we could all live for ever!" bursted Moller.
"Lol you stupid, now I have my own blood supply." - Lame Story.

Eternal life, as in living forever in your body is impossible. You would die of cancer eventually from cell mutations.

i believe there is a project that has already emulated a portion of the rat brain.
so yes, i would say it is possible. | We're talking about immortality, not dumping your brain on a hard drive.
They are a decent distance apart from one another. |
no shit, having an undying brain kind of ties into the problem at hand | Not at all. Your brain isn't the problem. You don't die because your brain dies, your body dies. Putting your brain into a hard drive doesn't solve anything, because you still need a body. I personally don't think a brain transplant is possible.
