you mean the fast-forward feature in emulators?
just like in my gba emulator right now?
that thingy is used to speed up the game when its gets sooo boring
atleast thats what i think it is
cause in my gba emulator i use that speed thingy to speed up my pokemon games
btw, what specs do i need to run ps2 games at an extremely good frame-rate? |

| At LEAST a fast dual core with a DX10 capable card, ideally. |

It wouldn't make any different in a PS2 emulator because the emulator is already doing everything it possibly can to produce frames as quickly as possible. Whatever trick cheatengine happens to use -- probably nothing more than simple frame limit skipping -- it's not going to be effective because it's essentially already being used.
The specs you need to run games smoothly are at least a dual core CPU and a graphics processor that can handle PS2-like graphics.
PCSX2 only uses 2 cores so quad core is not effective -- it would be better to have higher GHz cpu with more cache. |

With those specs you should reach about 44-50 fps in most games (so a smooth 60 fps with frame skipping).
But you will only be able to turn the graphics up to just barely above native PS2 resolution or so. |

| I believe the latest beta version of PCSX2 has a new CPU recompiler which is faster. In fact, the beta versions usually have all sorts of new tricks employed for speed. It will soon work on on quad cores as well, so the emulator will probably get noticeably faster / scale much bette in the future. |

I got it working on my laptop. but it lagged out of hell (well a little bit). So I decided to try on my desktop. It didn't work. After hours I could boot but the os but not the game lol. _________________

| Not really... you just use the installer and configure the controller and that's all you need to do really. |

That would be because the installer takes care of the rest. _________________
