I finished most of the medium res version of the sword, here's some pictures. All the textured are 2048x2048 and they're seperate (Blade, pommel, jewel, handle, and base).

you cannot sell with student's license.. if you have a commercial license (( yeah :/ the expensive one )) you may want to sell maybe in turbosquid or some place like that.
about your sword.. well I guess its fine if its a lowpoly, if not.. you should work much more in smoothing and making a better topology-segmentation

I'm thinking of buying a commercial license depending on how much free time I have to actually work on stuff to sell once the school year starts, until then though I'm just going to build up a library. And I didn't plan on selling on turbosquid since you only get 50% in revenues, I was going to try Altair Models, it seems more organized and well managed plus it has 70% in revenues. Also, I didn't plan on making a ton of money, I don't think they would check up on the thousands of people who sell things for <$20.

I think it this way. its fine if I only get 50% and sell lots than if I get 70% but sell only a little.
I'm saying this because actually Turbosquid is getting partnership with Autodesk, looks like they will get linked to each other soon.
info from some friends that have been selling in turbosquid for some years already.
so if turbosquid is more popular than Altair Models you get more visits and more chances of selling n.n;;
but its up to you n.n;; this is just my advice.
also.. I dont really think its a great idea to buy the commercial license yet.
I mean... looking your work .. I think you are in a fair level, starting ... as am I... personally I don't consider myself good enough to start selling models yet.
look at your sword...
here is one I made a long time ago, it took me an about of 30 minutes or so, it looks decent but still I don't think it would be a nice idea to sell it yet....
I made that one with C4D ... I have improved lots since then..
this is my actual level on C4D and one of my best works with it

still commercial licenses are too expensive foe me yet... I think a good moment to buy the commercial license is when you are sure that you will be able to sell enough like to pay the license in less than half a year or so.

Turbosquid may get more visits but your model gets mixed with a lot more, Altair models is in the top 5ish most popular selling sites, and I've seen some things that aren't that good yet still sell quite a bit.

No offense, but your maturity level doesn't sound very high and this is a very complicated program that can't be learned quickly, I've been doing it for about 2 years on and off, and BTW, it costs $3,500

Which parts? I have a version where the guard tapers off on the sides so it doesn't look so big.

you could try using google sketch-up, its possible to make this sword in half hr, then (if you buy the full ver) u can export the model to 3d max. its a nice work tho.

I prefer using one program instead of multiple ones for doing one thing, I finished the UV layout for the handle which was annoying since they were all seperate meshes combined so I decided to do an overlap method to increase texture detail.
Here's the render of the handle with 2048x2048 textures, I still have some UV smoothing to do.
For some reason when I save as a .png in PS it's really bright, so it's actually a bit darker than that.

| Do you think you could center it just a bit better? It makes the most awesome desktop picture!

| Is there a way to not make it pointy on the rounding areas? I'm talking about the top of the sword.
