I'm helping someone do their homework, and i ran into a problem that doesn't make any sense >_>
Here it is.
g(x) = x^2+2x+3
[g(x+5)]
assuming i remember this correctly, it should be:
g(x+5) = (x+5)^2 + 2(x+5) + 3
g(x+5) = X^2 + 25 + 2x + 10 + 3
g(x+5) = X^2 + 2x + 38
According to the answers in the book, the answer should be:
x^2 + 12x + 38
I don't see where this 12x came from >_>

(Confused)
Did you just get three different values from (X+5)^2
?

the final answer at the back of the book said it was: X^2 + 12x + 38
so it can't be: X^2 + 10x + 25
(if that's what you meant)

x^2+5x+5x+25. And the book answer is rite. I just pointed out the step u made a mistake in. The final part is x^2+5x+5x+25+2x + 10 + 3
=x^2 + 12x + 38
