I have recently been offered an opportunity to live in Papua New Guinea for 1 year. I will attend school there in Port Moresby.
I have a few questions about PNG:

1. What is the internet like there?
2. Is there a good computer industry there?
3. Anything else about PNG you may want to add....

Bare in mind I would be attending an internation al private school and would not spend time on the street/in danger and violence would not affect me there.

To my understanding PNG is almost a third world country, that is often riddled with violence.
Although I know nothing of the computer industry there I would not choose to live there.

uh, so I don't want to be one of those people that say 'just google it' but we can't really help you since I doubt anybody here (or a very low percent) lived in PNG, so all you can do is research on the subject and we're not going to do that for you. But I can tell you that if you are going to a "rich" part of the country then I'm almost certain that you'll be able to find an ISP.

Since you're in a private school, you should already be in a good area of the place. If you wana try new things, new cultures, go there. If you're a pussy like me and wana keep everything the same. Stay in Australia. And if the country is poor, then the manufacturing of quality computers would be low, and prices would probobly be high due to having to import it, possibly from half way around the world, unless you wana bring your computer there >_>.

1 Year isn't a big chunk of your life. Theres risks, but hey, whats life without risks? Its fun going to new places. I say you go PNG. (Assuming it IS safe where you're going...)
