Yes, although (in the US) there are required courses that must be taken every year, English, Science, History, Math, and you can choose up to 5 other classes if your school has that option. These electives must also gain certain points so you can graduate. One required elective in most (if not all) states is Health Education.
I assume it works mostly the same in other countries.

things are way too different here in PH, you cant choose what classes to take when you are in highschool
there are just too many of the classes i take which i hate
cant wait till i go to college, then i will take "IT" so i can focus on computers
