Just get a list of proxies, press "Add new Proxy" and put in IP and port which are supposed to be on the list. Name it.

I dont really understand how a proxy works, does it hide my IP, or just change it? or something else?

What im trying to do:

Change wiki shit that would most likely get me banned otherwise

use it to get referall xp in games(gonna use this for MyBrute http://cris.hobo-studios.org/blog/?page_id=46)

Should i get FoxyProxy or HotSpot sheild for this? or both?

Yes.

Proxies are pretty simple. There is a proxy server, you find it, you connect to it. When you try to connect to a website, instead of the connection going straight to the website from your modem, it'll go to the proxy server first. So all the data that the website sends you goes through the proxy server, and then from the server to your computer. When you connect to a website, the website will just see the IP of the proxy server. This of course, makes proxying much slower, and that's why you try to find the proxy with the lowest latency to you possible.
