I recently read about a way to update the firmware for an iPod touch for free with "Major Releases" and im just wondering if using the method stated below causes any problems with anything like future firmware updates.

The method is:
1- Download the latest iTunes from here.
2- Connect your iPod Touch 1G or 2G to PC/Mac with iTunes.
3- Click on Restore while holding Shift (for PC) and Option (for Mac).
4- Browse to the Firmware 3.0 for your device and select it.
5- Wait while iTunes syncs the update onto the iPod

Looks like each update you'll have to restore it just like that.

if thats the only downside then i will try it out, not like apples update button is any better
