Well, it was working great until yesterday, but ever since, Apache fails to start up automatically and fails to start via the apache monitor. All I did yesterday was transfer some files onto a flash drive and plugged in an iPod to charge it. None of those seem like it would logically cause the problem.
The error that occurs when I attempted to manually start Apache is the "missing OCI.dll" and several other .dll's. This is a sign of an incorrect PHP installation so I reinstalled both Apache and PHP.
Now the error message goes away, but Apache still does not automatically start and the Apache monitor does not list the server as a service. I added Apache to the service using "httpd.exe -k install" and received a notification that it was successfully registered. But all was not well, accompanied with the success message was a message saying that Apache could not bind to port 8080. This occurs when another application is using the port, but no other applications are using the port (checked with "netstat"). This is where I am stuck. Any idea what's causing the problem? I can force apache to start, but the console stays visible after I start it.
netstat does not always provide a full list unless you use netstat -a.
Also, sounds possibly virus related? Hooking up a flash drive can lead to an autorun virus infecting you. _________________
