Maybe it's just me, but modern bands are so uncreative. Sure there are some good ones, but most of them sound the same and can't find anything else to sing about than girls. I like girls as much as the next guy, but they're are plenty of other things to sing about. If they really want to write a song about a girl they could at least make it sound different and creative rather than the same old stuff. What's your opinion on modern bands?

I don't like modern bands, because everything is mainstream now... For example, look at the Jonas Brothers... They sing about crap. Pizza girl... I mean, seriously? They don't have creativity yet they're so popular, it amazes me...

I listen to metalcore and post-hardcore.

Exactly. It's sad for me to think that great bands like Alexi Murdoch, Arcade Fire, and Say Anything probably won't make half the money Hannah Montana makes.

Hey There Delilah got old fast what with all the radio stations playing it 24/7. It was great though and still pretty good. I still listen to it from time to time.

Its not new music that sucks, it's mainstream.

Just delve into the world of underground music, its far superior.

I can't comment on modern bands, outside of Metal.
I really only listen to Metal.
New music in general really does seem to suck though.
It's because little kids don't need creativity, they need high pitched noises and "happy" lyrics. And kids can create a large income with their interests.

I completely agree with you, OP. Modern music is completely samey, to the point where I almost gave up on it.

However, whilst some bands tend to sound the same, a few prevail. I think that the first band to break from this trend was Hit The Lights, they have the same kind of sound, but sing in a different way - one of my favourite bands.

Bands like All Time Low, Four Year Strong and Brand New are the kinds of bands that you're talking about in that they sing about a lot of the same things. However, they're about the only three that actually matter in this current music climate. I had to ask some of my friends who were current with the modern music scene for some names, so I sifted through all of them and found the aforementioned bands. That's because, like you, I had no idea who the hell anyone was.

It seems to me that people focus on one genre, which confuses me. I mean, I'm open to literally all music, with the exception of a few names. People completely disregard all other kinds of music for what they consider to be the "best" genre. No such thing exists. Anyway, it's a shame that some of the new bands can't fulfill their creativity quota, if they did, there would just be more music to listen to.

I'm not a rock-lover or metal-lover or blah blah, but they're okay.
The modern ones tend to be more... smooth and love-based.
People have different things they like, there's no need to say any type of music genre is crap.
