i did use gradient maps o.o
i wanted that color on purpose =0
Skull Kid(The one who's wearing Majora's Mask) is a scarecrow. That's why i went for that light brown color scheme

This is without the gradient maps:
I liked the way the background colors spread out because it matched Majora's Mask really well. However, I just thought people would preffer something less colorful =/
All I used to make it was the render; so the color display played out nicely. (in my opinion)
Either way, i thought it looked best in all brown.

duplicate render alot of times.
smudge layer by layer in an order like: normal -> linear dodge -> normal and so on untill you're satisfied.
final layer's normal and you smudge the edges.
then I added one or two distort layers.
when it was finished i sharpened it all.
>_> (i suck at explaining, but that was pretty basic o.o)
