Okay, several people have been able to overclock their 8500GT to about 700core /500mem/ 1400 shader. Try that, even though it won't do much if your CPU can't handle it.

-Edited.

Okay, several people have been able to overclock their 8500GT to about 760mhz and memory to about 1650mhz. Try that, even though it won't do much if your CPU can't handle it.

You should try to overclock your CPU to 3 Ghz with a 1.4Vcore, that will juice it all up a bit.

It could fry your computer, but the OC I've posted shouldn't do much harm.

The best thing you can do is find a stable configuration and have it run that all the time. If you boost the shit out of it and think that it's okay when you're only playing games, your wrong. It'll most likely fry the interior of your pc/cause permanent artifacts.

Taken from some forum on how to check the temperature using Rivertuner:
Quote:
Click the drop down arrow on the the line where it gives your card information (right next to "Customize..." and click the right most icon - "Hardware monitoring". Hit the red record button (also, you can click setup to add different plugins to the HW Monitor screen).

Then, if you want to have the information displayed when you hover over the tooltip, right click on each graph you want the information for, and check off "Show in tray icon tooltip" or you can check it to show the temperature or whatever value you want as its own tray icon.

-The OC'ed specs are on at all times.
