It should run smoothly depending on what you are trying to fraps. Are you sure you have the right settings?

I believe its ram that you're lacking. I didn't even know you were able to run crysis with 2gig ram.

It does depend on what graphics card you are playing. It will lag if the game requires alot of processing etc.

I think it relies most on CPU or graphics card. But it does need RAM too.

FRAPS spends most of it's time saving the screen to disk.

It's probably more HD bound followed by CPU

It would work like this:

Your graphics card is having to render the frames followed by your cpu having to calculate physics, explosions, and other particle effects, then the frames (.avi) would be saved to the hard drive and then the cycle starts back over.

So it heavily depends on your I/O speed of your HDD and your graphics card.

set the FPS to 30 in fraps and record while it's lagging. When the video is done, it will be smooth because of the frame setting, works for me.

If you have 2 HDD's available then you should save your files to the other hdd. This takes stress of your local drive. If not maybe you should buy a small hdd dedicated to fraps. Not expensive at all. Or just take one from a shit box computer.

And chuck two new 2x2gig ram in there for the sake you computer will run so much smoother with it.
