Got my new HP laptop.
But somethign is pissing me off, where's the contrast/brightness control of the monitor?

uh ussualy laptops have a FN key(function) between ctrl and alt. Press that and look at ur F1-F12 keys, there should be pictures. Look for the ones you need, unless its different for u.

Look in the system tray for a gfx card control panel too.
