I think you go into a program on windows and it lets you increase the amount of ram you use,
also, I put 2.5 GB RAM on my Dell Dimension 5100. I don`t think it`s using the complete 2.5 though because when I go into System Information it says ;
Total Phsyical Memory : 2,560 MB
Available Phsyical Memory : 2 GB
Available Virtual Memory : 1.9 GB

That just increases the maximum size of your page file. Any physical RAM you have added will be utilized to it's fullest, the only real way to allow your computer more RAM is to physically add more DIMMs.
Seeing as your board uses 533MHz DDR2 RAM as standard and has a maximum capacity of 4GB anything here would be compatible with your system. _________________
