my iTouch is in 2.0 firmware but is it possible to update it to 2.2.1 without deleting the stuff I downloaded from cydia?

as of now, it is safe to update your firmware to 2.2.1 without re-jailbreaking. Which means you're cydia stuff should be safe and your ipod will remian jailbroken. Always check the iphone dev website when a new firmware comes out to check if the latest firmware is safe to use.
go check the iphone dev website for futher insight on this since I have never done this personally but I've been told that it's safe to do so. I also don't want to be responsible for any lose of your data.
