| I was trying things out so I just used same colours in the tutorial I used. It turned out badly. I also need to find some good vector brushes.

I would say looks for c4d that matchs you render color scheme, not bad for a first one.

Or you can just desaturate the C4D and add a color balance adjustment layer or whatever you use to adjust the colors.
