So..
There is a new school opening up next year called "New Tech High School".
It's about taking students and teaching them in a new way to see the learning process. Anyone can apply and only 100 applicants will be accepted from 3 different middle schools. I have a chance to go, I'm pretty interested, I'm just worried about most of my other friends I'll leave back at my old school. This new high school is 4 years same as any others. Has the 4 main core subjects, Math, English, Science, and Reading. The school focuses more on teaching with technology and group learning. They pair you into groups and teach you something then you work together and you present. It has a bunch of benefits, they give you a laptop, you can leave campus to eat lunch, and it's a small school so more hands on learning.
So the question is..
Should I go?

i would go. That sounds kick ass. Yes you will be leaving your friends. But if they were your "REAL" friends then they would still remain close with you. (out of school ect) PLUS you will be meeting a lot more people at this new school. Worth it if you ask me. Absolutely worth it.

The school brings in a lot of principles from college and ect.
This school is really looked at and it's not necessarily a "experimental" high school. It's just a different way of teaching the students. The person who is opening up the school came to my class today and told us about it. He said even though this is the first year it opens you still have a lot of chances to get a scholarship because the work is more advanced and focuses a lot on science and math.

You obviously have no fucking clue what you are talking about. You are completely stupid. This isn't a one-of-a-kind high school. There are a lot of these, and barely any of them have done even moderately.
But in the case that this school somehow does exceptionally well, he wouldn't stand out as a better student because everyone's grades would be better. But it is extremely doubtful that the school would do well at all. Like I said, there are tons of these types of schools opening up these days, and none of them have done exceptionally well. In fact, almost all of them have done exceptionally poorly. Colleges know this, and it definitely will not be good when they see you graduated from "New Tech High School," a school that hasn't even been heard of yet because it just opened up four years prior. And the name confirms that it is just another experiment to test new teaching methods. Colleges will realize that as well.
And what do you mean the environment sounds better for teaching? He hasn't even really explained anything apart from that they'll be small-ish classes and you'll be split into groups. All the teachers are going to be completely new, since all experienced teachers know about these schools and know what I say to be true. Since none of the new teachers are going to have any experienced teachers to help them, they are all going to completely fall apart. The rules, just like the rules at any high school in its first year, are going to fall apart as well.
Trust me, you do not want to go to this school, it would be a terrible idea, unless you aren't planning on going to college.

The bolded is exactly what I mean. That means it is an experiment. They are seeing if this new (and it isn't even that new, it has been tried many times as I have said; almost all have failed) way of teaching will work. And just because he says it focuses a lot on science and math, doesn't mean it does. Even if it does (which is impossible to prove since it is sort of an oppinion), no college will believe it any more than they would any other school.
This school won't stand out as good, if anything it will stand out as bad.

| Some of the teachers are experienced teachers. Others are just coming out of college. I was just wondering on what you guys thought. It seems like all the teachers and principles in all of the middle schools were supporting it and saying it was a good thing. My "computer" teacher who teaches a few things about computers told me it would be a great idea for me to go. Since I'm interested in technology and whats going on. The "New Tech High" isn't the first of its kind there are many other schools in Texas that have been open for awhile. I'm not sure what the standards were for those schools though.

As i said before, you have no proof. Where is the proof that these "New" schools will be/are terrible. Your clearly no where near the level of education that would be fit for a high school student. I wasn't really "accepted". Not yet. I think I have a really good shot at going. Most of my teachers now know that I'm interested in computers and technology and know that I'm somewhat advanced from what I've learned over the internet and from my dad. So they could give me good reports/recommendations. I was just asking RS if you thought it was a good idea. I still need to talk with my parents about it.

This is complete proof you have no idea what you are talking about. On a side note, this is RS, fucking deal with the insults or leave.
The best information is always passed through word of mouth, unless it is solid fact. If you were any older than the 12 years of age you most likely posses, you would know that. Now read what I got from the first website you cited.

Educational reform is NOT AT ALL what ANY college wants (any college that isn't another one of these kinds of schools, that is). Seriously, fucking think before you write anything. Did you honestly think that 'educational reform' would be a good thing? Why do you think that employers take online degrees to be a joke? The same fucking reason.
Also, the New Technology Foundation thing is exactly what I was talking about. Like I said, this isn't an original idea at all. There are a lot of these schools, and all of them look bad regardless of whether it is good or not due to the large amount of them that are very bad.
I'm not saying it is definitely going to be a bad school, I'm just saying it most likely will. And even if it is a good school, it will look no better than the bad ones, which is very bad.
@Insane Monkey Brain: You live in the Netherlands. Technology schools there are popular, generally pretty good (especially compared to ones in the US) and not frowned upon.
