It's being appealed. Personally I think this is a gross injustice, simply because they are providing a torrent searching service, and are only hosting torrent files. It's like suing Google because you could find child porn with their service. The whole, "but Google takes steps to stop that sort of thing, and cooperates with the agencies", is a horrible argument. If I took steps to stop crime in my city, murdered someone, then cooperated with the authorities it wouldn't make my crime any less than it was. Of course, you could replace "murdered" with "downloaded music", but that doesn't mean the searching infrastructure is anymore at fault than the gun maker.
What's next? Suing our ISPs simply because they provide the infrastructure to allow us to download illegal materials in the first place?

There is no doubt that they will take this to the supreme court.

er no, the investigation started MANY MANY years ago. The trial first started in early March.
Also, they are appealing it.
Also also, for anyone who has ever been in jail... The sentence they give you is the MAX sentence. If the swedish judicary system is similar to the USs, they most likely will not serve an entire year (if the appeal does not work.).

Of course they will, but the thing is, TPB isn't hosting any files. So I don't get why they get sued for that |
That was exactly my point, you just contradicted yourself.

If the torrent is legal then yes. Linux distros for example.
